Shamaila Sarah Malik

Shamaila Sarah Malik, a native Texan, always knew she wanted to be a lawyer. A graduate of Carroll High School in Southlake, TX, Shamaila spent all four years on the debate team and three years as a volunteer attorney and attorney trainer for Metroport Teen Court.

Shamaila then went on to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX, where she graduated cum laude and with honors in 2007 with a degree in Liberal Arts (Political Science) and a degree in Business (double major, Finance and Accounting). Shamaila’s honors thesis can be found in the TCU library, entitled ‘The juvenile justice system : is the treatment of juveniles as adults effective public policy?’. While at TCU, Shamaila was involved in Model United Nations, the Chancellor’s Leadership Program, the Distinction Program for Political Science, Delta Sigma Pi, MSA, and SAICA (Students for Asian Indian Cultural Awareness).

Following her undergraduate career, Shamaila attended Baylor Law School in Waco, TX from February 2008 to November 2010. While attending law school full time, Shamaila also worked outside of school to gain practical experience. She worked for Catholic Charities for two years as a legal assistant, providing low income families immigration relief. Shamaila also interned for the Assistant District Attorney of McLennan County for three months as well as esteemed District Judge Gary Coley for six months. Additionally, Shamaila worked as a student representative/sales coordinator for Kaplan Bar Review during and after law school.

Shamaila has been a part of the Mathur Law Offices, P.C. family since October 2011. At the firm, Shamaila works on primarily criminal and immigration cases. Outside the firm, Shamaila volunteers each week teaching GED prep classes.

Shamaila’s passions lie in both criminal and immigration law, and she looks forward to serving her clients to the best of her ability. She speaks English and Urdu/Hindi fluently, and speaks Spanish conversationally.
